We wish to extend our sympathies to the family of the late Prof. Emilia Bondocin, who passed away March 15 due to end-stage renal failure.

In the brief time we have met her, the former budget secretary and known icon of public service has expressed her enthusiasm in working together to help the ordinary citizens understand better and have a say on how our country’s national budget is planned and spent. At the time of her death, she was due to speak at our project launch on March 23 and was working on two background papers for us -- on the anatomy of the annual budget, and audits and accountability.

We dedicate this initiative to Ms. Boncodin, who in her life time, has been an exemplar of genuine service to the people.
